How to unwrap a UV of retopo data in 3D-coat. 1. entrust auto unwrap. select “auto mapping” when it is baked. if you are not particular about UV, Auto mapping is convenient. but, it is not accurate. fragments appeared. 2. unwrapping by yourself. Important : unwrapping of retopo data is in “retopo room”. it’s not in UV room. let’s use “Mark Seams” when you click edges of the retopo, it becomes green when you enclose some polygons, the color changes. it is a evidence that the UV separated. let’s check the UV window. you can see a separated UV. other polygons are not seamed yet. it has broken. so, let’s seam to the all of retopolygons. for example, I seamed the Forehead the UV of forehead separated . this blue one. if you want to remove the seam, ctrl + left button. if you don’t like seaming one by one, let’s use “UV path ” or “edge loops”. “UV path” can connect the line between point to point. for example, I want to separate the UV of the eye mask. the color changed . let’s check UV window. the eye mask has separated. in this way, let’s seam it continuously. speed up. if you can seam all of these, let’s use “Unwrap” in mark seam all of the UV was able to separate. adjustment broken points. OK, finished. let’s bake to make the paint polygon select ” keep UV” . don’t select “auto mapping”. OK, it has finished. let’s check UV window. you can 3D paint it. Next, the face unwrapping. if you don’t make the seam, the UV crashes. the red UV is distortion point. let’s use “UV path” to seam between a center of forehead to a center of nape. click “unwrap”. I just set one seam but, it becomes good UV compared to before. let’s bake. You can paint. Thank you watching!
