construction for both the Bilateral Cardigan and the Carle Baby Cardigan. Both of these
sweaters are made with two hexagons together, and you notice it looks a little bit ruffly,
it doesn’t exactly stay down flat, and the reason that is is because even though it has
six equal sides and six equal angles, a normal hexagon, these internal angles here would
be sixty degrees, six times sixty is three hundred and sixty degrees. Whereas when you’re
working a double increase every row in crochet or double increase every other row in knitting
it creates a ninety degree angle so six times ninety is a lot more than three hundred and
sixty which makes this kind of like a square and a half. So you notice you can kind of
pinch it there and almost see the square. This is going to be a great foundation for
a three dimensional shape. Now both the instructions will kind of tell you to mentally label each
of your sides here as one, two, three, four, five, and six. What you’re going to want to
do is fold one and four in half. Fold it like that, and you’ll get kind of an L shaped piece.
this is going to be half your sweater, one side being the top seam, and one side being
the center of your sweater, so you get a second piece folded the same way and you can see
even more how it’s going to turn into a sweater, what you’re going to do is seam along sides
two and six up here till it’s a good distance away from your neck, and then sides three
and five you’re going to seam up for the back, then just attach any closures and there you
have your sweater. }
