Autumn-Winter 2018-2019 Ready-to-Wear Show – Savoir-Faire: Embroidered Coat

This coat is finished.
It can go to the Dior ateliers It’s a reprint
of an 18th-century indienne. The fabric was embellished
and enriched by our embroidery. When you look at it up close, it’s a bit like the sculptures
on columns you can see at the Louvre.
That’s calledvermicelli. In Italian it’s a sculpture technique
and it’s the same in embroidery. You have these winding strings
that turn back on themselves lying both flat
and on their edge. Between the embroidered and
non-embroidered parts you can really see the effect of enrichment,
it brings a special something, it gives a whole new dimension
to the fabric. You get the impression that
it’s standing up, it’s rebelling!
