Broadchurch Series 2, Gracepoint & Doctor Who Interview – Peter De Jersey

hello Peter Jersey you here at collector mania how are you enjoying it being surrounded by all these people really passionate about things well I just think it's great to have a passion about something Jeannot and there's so much gloom and doom around I just think it's lovely to be in the press a lot of people are really celebrating something that brings them joy you know it's kind of great to be up close to it and after my excitement of being involved in the 50th episode of Doctor Who this is my first first experience of this kind of thing and I think it's just great how was it being involved in broadcast first season well I think the broadchurch you know it was such a wonderful opportunity to be involved in that and as an actor you want to do things that can be very heavy and things that are the other side of the spectrum and broadchurch was you know and piece of event television that I'm very very proud to be a part of and I think that even in the most sort of desperately dark story there's our moments of humor to be had and I think that they deserve achieved tube that quite successfully good race and the writers of broadchurch so I think you've always got to find a joke within the tragedy and you know some tears in a common theme really yeah we were speaking to the musical kind of composers of a day and he said season two is going to be even darker than season one what do you think they're going to do in season two is there going to be a sort of second album syndrome on that one well I would hope that after the success of the first one what pulled a lot of people in was the sense of community and how things have gone drastically wrong and then at the end of the first season something happened which pulls you right back in in terms of the things that were at stake now that can only be achieved once so I think the writer would be wise I can't wait to see it all to explore it but in a different way entirely I don't think that they should I try to repeat something but it should be a continuation of something you know so you won't be involved in it then oh I will be involved in it yeah yeah yeah great here returning just to say that have you seen the trailer for gracepoint the obviously the u.s. remake with david tennant in it I haven't seen the trailer but interestingly enough i was out in vancouver filming something and david was over there and so we met up and had some food we were having a chat about it he was enjoying it and said well you know that it was all going very well and I'm curious to see how that turns out I was a more great success with it and i love the actress who was in Breaking Bad who's playing opposite David in that so you know I think that for me I'm gonna enjoy doing the second installment of it and then maybe after that I'll have a look at the American won but i wish they'd been all of them great success with that yeah did David talked to his American accent when your mouth with it no he talked to me with his American beard when I was out there and that was good brilliant mentioning Dave eaten and then you obviously involved in the 52 year anniversary the day of the doctor how amazing was it to be a part of something that's such an institution in this country and all around the world now as well how exciting was it to be part of that well it was too exciting and a great honor really I myself you know who many of us have all been watching the doctor since you know he was far back as we can remember and as an actor he wants to be involved in something like Doctor Who but then to be involved in the 50th one was just off the scale you know my first day on the set I arrived and as I got out of my car someone was getting out of the dalek and I just thought this is what I'm you know it's kind of a dream come true responsibility and a lot of fun you know and I was thrilled with the way it all worked out the director was fantastic and working opposite ken bones was great and ya know they put together a great cast and the response has been lovely so great yeah and the result was for spectacular as well just to ask you then Peter Capaldi's obviously taking over as the through the kind of the Time Lord now what do you think he'll bring to the show are you looking forward to watching it I am immensely I've I think Peter Capaldi is a great actor and all of the actors that have played the doctor have been just wonderful I think and they bring something new to it it's a bit like all of the actors who have played bond you know it's if you if you could put them all around the table they're like Knights of the Time Lord world or whatever and I think Peter will bring something different and it is a great idea to go with someone of PETA's sort of stature and his age because he is timeless and he's a fantastic actor and after what the world the great work that map did I think you need to sort of shake it about a bit and I had a chat with Peter Capaldi and he came to see a play and he was just like her he was so excited and I I think that excitement will stand him in good stead yeah so he's obviously someone who has that balance end of comedy and drama of course as you mentioned earlier who was your doctor growing up or who's your favorite doctor to watch I'm sorry i I'm afraid I'm going to disappoint you and just say that my favorite doctor is always the current one you know it's like guys in a great relay race and the better the one before the faster the one that follows has to be or you the slower they were whatever way it works and I think so long as the baton is held well and handed on well they're all great of course you could ask me which one I remember watching first of all I'll ask you that they're all right Tom Baker and so he was the one for that started the adventure for me when I've been very much a lover of the program ever since and now that myself and chem bones are on Gallifrey frozen in time I hope very much that someone might unfreeze us one day and so we can join forces again who knows yeah I mean I'd love to see that I'm sure lots people would just one more question then you mentioned James Bond a min ago you work with Timothy Dalton of course on this how was it to work with Timothy Dalton well I know that terms of Dalton was involved I didn't actually see him on set it was myself and chem bones on our set because Timothy Dalton was involved in the High Council and this takes place on Gallifrey at the same time but we were the head of the military and the army so we open by saying you know the High Council has plans of their own and then we get into this arrangement with the Dobson's so that's going on in the same timeline on Gallifrey Timothy Dalton was doing his stuff elsewhere you
