CBS13/CW31 Coat & Toy Drive Pt. 6

WE ARE LIVE THIS MORNING FROM THE SALVATION ARMY RIGHT HERE IN ROSEVILLE, AND SO MANY PEOPLE SWINGING BY HELPING THEMSELVES TO SOME FRESH COOKIES OR DOUGHNUTS AND THEN DROPPING BY BAGS OF NEW OR GENTLY USED COATS. LOOK AT THIS CROWD OF PEOPLE WHO I HAVE SOMEHOW MANAGED TO WRINKLE. JOE, JULIE, JANET, JAN, YOU KNOW JEN, AND OF COURSE THE LIEUTENANT. WHAT MADE YOU COME IN HERE TODAY, JOE. I SAW YOU ON “GOOD DAY” AND WE FINISHED OUR WALK AND DECIDED TO STOP BY TARGET AND COME IN AND DONATE. Reporter: I LOVE THIS GUY. YES! THAT’S WHAT IT’S ALL ABOUT. THANK YOU SO MUCH. SO, JULIE. YEAH, WE WERE TOGETHER. WE WALK TOGETHER EVERY MORNING. HE TOLD ME ABOUT WHAT HE SAW ON TV AND HERE WE ARE. Reporter: AND JULIE SAID YES AND THEY WERE WILLING TO HOLD OFF BEFORE THEY TOOK OFF A LITTLE BIT EARLIER. AND JANET SWUNG IN HERE 30 OR 45 MINUTES AGO AND I CONVINCED HER TO STAY. YOU DROVE IN FROM SACRAMENTO? I DID. Reporter: WHAT MADE YOU COME? I SAW THE NEWS ABOUT WHAT HAD HAPPENED HERE AND THE ITEMS WERE STOLEN AND I JUST HAD TO LOAD UP MY CAR AND COME IN. Reporter: SHE JUST HAD TO LOAD UP HER COME ON COME IN. WE ARE SO APPRECIATIVE OF THAT, JANET. THANK YOU SO MUCH. YOU HAVE YOUR BIG OLD BAG HERE FILLED WITH STUFF. WHAT’S THE IMPORTANCE OF SUPPORTING THE COMMUNITY, ESPECIALLY AT TIMES LIKE THIS IN THE HOLIDAYS? WELL, I LIVE HERE. WHEN I SAW IT ON THE NEWS I THOUGHT I SHOULD BRING SOME OLD COATS THAT ARE STILL IN GOOD SHAPE. Reporter: IT’S THAT EASY. YOU DON’T HAVE TO SPEND MONEY. YOU CAN FIND COATS IN YOUR CLOSET. EVERYBODY HAS COATS THEY ARE NOT USING ANY MORE. DRIVE DOWN HERE 100 LINCOLN STREET. JEN IS GOING TO BE OUT HERE. WE ARE HANGING OUT FOR A LONG TIME. LONG HOURS. IT’S GOING TO BE FABULOUS. I CAN’T WAIT TO SEE THE TOYS THAT WILL COME IN FOR THE KIDS WHO ARE GOING TO HAVE AN AMAZING CHRISTMAS BECAUSE OF ALL OF YOU OUT THERE AND ALL OF YOU HERE. Reporter: WE ARE SO APPRECIATIVE. THANK YOU SO MUCH, LADIES AND GENTLEMEN. WE ARE SO APPRECIATIVE TO YOU. LIEUTENANT STEVE PAVLAKIS WITH THE SALVATION ARMY, WHAT DOES THIS MEANING TO YOU WATCHING THE COMMUNITY SHOW UP FOR YOU? HONESTLY, VERY FEW WORDS TO SAY. I AM ALMOST SPEECHLESS. WE HAVE PEOPLE THAT CARE ABOUT THE KIDS AND FAMILIES IN THE COMMUNITY AS MUCH AS WE DO. TO COME DONATE TO US AND GIVE US JACKETS AND TOYS, WE APPRECIATE IT A LOT. Reporter: AND WE’RE GONNA BE HERE ALL DAY. WE WOULD LOVE TO SEE YOUR SMILING FACES. ALL RIGHT. THANKS SO MUCH.
