Costume craze

And their eyes light up. I’m Elizabeth
Bourgeois an assistant professor of costume design in the department of
Theater Dance and Motion Pictures here at Wright State. I’m one of the costume
couture designers for HighBall 2018 it’s a huge fashion runway show they call it
a costume couture runway show so it’s a hybrid between theatrical
costume and fashion and a conventional sense. It’s big theatrics pure spectacle big
crowd event so there are eight designers and it’s competitive to become one
of them each designer has one Couture costume and that’s the big event and
then three ready-to-wear fashion looks. I’ve been coming and sort of decorating
and adding things and just working on it. My design assistant is Emily Sollinger
who graduated from our Design Technology program as a costume designer two years
ago she speaks very well to our success here I think. I pretty much only ever
done me a theater and dance and everything and this is just such a
different animal you know with all of the spectacle and really sort of quick
staging type things. You know my experience in theater is you have to manipulate color and reflection in order to draw focus in a staged event so I also
knew I needed to create something that was just really large and scale and it
really is costume and fashion people throwing it all out there and testing
their skills out.
