Diseño y composición de patterns textiles – Un curso de La casita de Wendy

Hi, I’m Inés Aguilar,
fashion designer and creative director
at La casita de Wendy. At La casita we make clothes
with simple shapes in which the print, colour and materials are crucial. We’ve collaborated with institutions
like Museo Thyssen and brands like We Are Knitters. Our collections are sold
in important shops like Cocktail, in Hong-Kong,
Anthropologie, in the US and Peseta, in Madrid. We love to tell stories with our clothes curating each collection and taking great care with details. We work with locally sourced
organic materials and have a small production volume to respect the environment. We believe in change
through creative power and try to transmit it with our style. Any photo, image or illustration can inspire your patterns to create
your own collection of clothes. In this Doměstika course, you’ll learn to get the most
out of textile print designs. You’ll design motives to play with
and compose different items and learn the different
ways to rapport, or compose your print
without noticing seams. We’ll draw two motives,
figurative and abstract, with which
you’ll create different prints using the composition,
the scale and colour. We’ll talk about rapport and the motives that compose it. We’ll see different types of prints,
some with figurative aesthetics, geometric
or nature-inspired motives. Once that’s done,
we’ll reflect on how to compose with these images,
using mixed elements, or linear, pattern,
kaleidoscope elements, in large scenes
or compositions without background. We’ll focus on the scale and how it influences
the result of our print. We’ll draw,
do free compositions on paper and we’ll do variations
with Photoshop on the computer. I’ll show you how to do a more
complex rapport, “tresbolillo”, we’ll do mockups with the prints made. We’ll do a technical sheet
to send to a factory. Finally, we’ll see the result
on different textiles and some prints in the final piece
which will be part of our collection. For this course, you just need basic Photoshop knowledge. It helps if you
know how to create prints or have done my previous course. You’ll need a notepad,
material of your choice to draw, like pencils, felt-tip pens,
watercolours, stamps and a computer with Photoshop. This course is aimed at people who want to create textiles
from a manual design. Transform your creativity
with colourful pieces to wear anywhere. Design and Composition
