El-Kurru Project: A Textile Graffito

El-Kurru Project: A Textile Graffito

I’m Suzanne Davis. I’m the conservator for the University of
Michigan Excavations at El-Kurru. And at El-Kurru, this temple is one of my
favorite places on the archaeological site. And in the temple, this graffito is one of
my favorite graffiti. It shows a textile, and I like it a lot because
I’m a weaver. I wish I knew why the person who carved it
chose to carve it here on this column in this temple. But one of the things I really like about working on the El-Kurru graffiti project is that there’s always more to learn and we’re
always learning new things.
