How To Minimize Black Ink Usage For Black Garments

Setup Black Removal determines the optimum
amount of black that can be removed from job files, letting the black garment substitute
for black ink. Choose Queue menu>Setup Black Removal
Multiple test images will be printed within this area. Use a file typical of your work, or choose
a test file from Ripsystemtargets Set the image size, then click Next
Confirm the range of KnockMeBlackOut values to determine how much black can be removed
without impacting quality. For example, printing from 30% to 75% in steps
of 15 will produce four charts: 30%, 45%, 60%, and 75%. Click here to print the charts, then enter
the best chart value here. Click Next to proceed with determining the
amount of white underbase printed in semi-transparent areas, or where the garment should be visible. This will not affect the 100% white underbase
amount that is determined using the Set Maximum White Ink wizard. Instead, this will adjust the separation curves
for white underbase in the highlight, midtone, and shadow regions. Be warned that reducing white ink too much
can reduce color vibrancy. There are four chart categories, which vary
from strong to light in the 50% to 90% range. Click here to print the charts, and print
as many categories as you feel necessary to pinpoint the correct white underbase. When you have determined the best chart value,
set the category, and set the value here. After completing Setup Black Removal, other
queue settings to consider would be the white underbase choke, and the Color Boost wizard.
