How To Use Clear Coat for Furniture Protection | Country Chic Paint Clear Coat Tutorial

Hi there it’s Rosanne here from Country Chic Paint. We have a new product that I’m excited to show you today. It’s called Clear Coat. Stay tuned to learn how you can use this easy-to-use finishing products to protect your furniture pieces from wear and tear for years to come Our paint has great adhesion and durability but for high traffic pieces that will get a lot of wear and tear sometimes an extra bit of protection is necessary. Since Clear Coat has a satin sheen it’s also perfect if you’re going for a more modern looking finish or if you’re wanting to add just a little bit of shine to your piece. Clear Coat comes in three sizes; we have it in a four ounce 16 and 32 ounce container it has ultra low VOCs so it’s very environmentally friendly and it has almost no odor if you’ve tried our Tough Coat in the past you’ll probably find that our Clear Coat has less of a learning curve and it is easier to use even for beginners. If you’re wondering which product to choose for your piece keeping in mind that Tough Coat is a tougher finish so we recommend it for pieces like tabletops floors and kitchen cabinets that get lots of daily wear and tear. Clear Coat is best for pieces like dressers that will get regular use but won’t be prone to as much abuse. Both products, Tough Coat Clear Coat can be easily wiped clean with gentle household cleaning products. This little piece I painted a couple days ago in the color Cherry Blossom and you want to make sure that you give your paint at least 24 hours to dry before you start applying any kind of top coat like Tough Coat or Clear Coat Just like Tough Coat, Clear Coat should never be shaken. You just want to open the jar and stir it with a stir stick for about a minute or so to make sure that everything is mixed well together. If you would shake it you’ll incorporate bubbles and that’s something you want to avoid. For a nice smooth finish it’s best to use a painting sponge to apply it Notice that I’m going to be using long smooth strokes to apply it and not going over the same area again and again. If you notice any areas that you’ve missed instead of going over it again you might want to just wait until you go over it a second time because if you go over areas that have started to dry already you’ll start adding texture to your finish. You’ll want to wait about two to three hours between coats in ideal circumstances. If it’s very cold or humid in your area then you’ll definitely want to wait a little bit longer. For optimal durability t’s best to apply at least three to four coats of Clear Coat to your piece. After you’re all finished you want to wait at least 24 hours before using your piece. Keep in mind that the total cure time for Clear Coat is three to four weeks so you want to wait a while before you do any extensive cleaning to avoid damaging the surface Clear Coat gives you a durable environmentally friendly option to guarantee that your pieces can be enjoyed for many years.
