welcome to the Jersey carrot volunteer orientation over the next few minutes we will review who we are what we do and how to get involved at Jersey carrots we envision a New Jersey in which everyone is motivated and empowered to make a positive difference as a leader in volunteerism in New Jersey Jersey cares increases the level of meaningful volunteer engagement by creating and managing efficient impactful projects that address critical community identified needs we are so excited to have you on board and now going to take a minute to go over what makes us so special what makes Jersey care so unique is that we plan manage and leave the projects you participate in so we know that your time will be well spent and your service meaningful you will never be asked to do anything related to fundraising or administrative work there are four different ways that we engage New Jersey residents to volunteer for projects our first is through our corporate service program we have this experience and the training staff to help companies of all sizes develop and enhance their corporate citizenship initiative the second way is our annual events which include a large-scale cease of service these are ideal projects for community groups like fraternity sorority faith-based groups social clubs and Families our third way to get involved into the various collection drives that are wrong throughout the year the fourth way to get involved is through our monthly calendar program these programs are ideal for individuals interested in participating in small group volunteer projects there are three things you should know about our monthly calendar program one each project has a reoccurrence of at least once per month – they are managed by Jersey cares project coordinator and three they require no long-term commitment and no training so volunteer once again and again our project span a wide range of impact areas they include disaster recovery military and veteran services economic opportunities seniors animals environmental stewardship education you need services health and wellness and hunger and homelessness all of our projects are managed by a volunteer leader who we call project coordinators these are stewards and ambassadors of Jersey cares they are volunteers just like you we are always seeking new project coordinators to lead new or existing projects so when you erase become a leader check out our website to find out some more information now let's walk through the brief steps on how to log in and sign up for projects so go to Jerzy cares org and you will see a blue door login where you click and enter your username and password from there you have the opportunity to scroll over the volunteer tab and click on find an opportunity this will then take you to a new page where you scroll down and click the blue circle to expand the search bar from there you will have the ability to find a project from any of the search fields listed once you select a project signing up is easy as you scroll down you will see a list of dates for the given project click the blue circle to expand the time and date you are interested in and click this the button labeled sign up once you click sign up automatically an email will be sent to you confirming where to go and what to do it's that easy to find an opportunity how to remove yourself is just as important as signing up when you sign up for a project you are saying that you're going to be in attendance and at the agency can count on however we understand that on rare occasions you may need to remove yourself from a project due to unforeseen circumstances if that's the case simply go to our website access your my account tab from there you will see a list of upcoming opportunities and on the right hand side you will see a button that says remove me simply click remove me and instantly you will be removed from the project and you will allow someone else to sign up and fill your slot now we are going to review what you should do before during and after project once you select the project that is right for you save the date on your calendar and notify friends family and coworkers to find out if they would be interested in joining you should also send your project coordinator an email to see if there is anything you would do to help besides recruiting more volunteers when you arrive the first thing that you will do is sign in the project coordinator will then provide you with some instructions on how you can help so have fun and remember the project always ends by cleaning
