Laguna Cardigan. Crochet Tutorial

Laguna Cardigan. Crochet Tutorial

hello again and welcome to my channel in this tutorial I will show you how to make this beautiful Laguna cardigan I'm using eleven shades of mostly blue it's 100% cotton and the recommended needle is 2.5 3.5 millimeter but we will use a four millimeter crochet hook like J size so it's a four ply yarn fingering size – you can choose to work with many colors as I did or you can choose to work with – at least it will look nice with two also but make sure that you have a contrasting color to use it for the chain rows because this cardigan we will work it in the brick stitch and we will have one row with chains and single crochet and it will look nicer if you have a contrasting color between the rows with bricks this Lagoona cardigan is a top down cardigan we will start working from the neck and we will increase by adding one double crochet on the bricks just to make the increases and to make it wider and to form that shape that round shape that we need for the yoke we will start with bricks with three single crochet and then we will continue adding until we have the needed length width of the cardigan I will start now by chaining for the chain you will need a multiple of four plus two stitches for size s you will have to chain 150 stitches 158 for M for medium and 176 for now I will do a smaller sample here just to show you the first rows of the yoke and then we will work on the basically cardigan to continue with the main part of of it so after changing the number of stitches you'll have to chain three more chain three at the beginning of the row is counting as first at double crochet then in the fifth stitch we will start doing one double crochet and then one more double crochet in the next two stitches so this is a block of three stitches this first brick then we will have to chain one skip one stitch and continue with three double crochet in the next three stitches so the pattern for the first row is three double crochet chain one skip one and continue working like this to the end of the row and I will show you immediately how to finish the row because we will have to finish the first row with the same stitches as we started so we will have one chain and one double crochet in the last stitch okay so I'm here at the end of the row two stitches left so chain one skip one and in the last stitch 1 double crochet and this was the first row now in the second row because we will do the chain row but not that I told you before I will change the color this navy blue that I have it here and we will start immediately the second row the second row will be very intuitive is not difficult to figure it out how you should do it after joining the yarn we will chain one then turn and we will start the row in the first stitch so chain one doesn't count as a stitch and make two single crochet in the first stitch and the next one in the chain one space then chain three skip the three double crochet and make one single crochet in the chain one space and repeat chain three skip three one single crochet in the chain one space so the bottle for the second row is chain three skip three one single crochet and we will have to repeat it to the end of the row at the end of the row we will have chain three skip three and then two single crochet one in the chain one space and another one in the third stage of the turning chain that we did at the beginning of the first row after finishing the road – we will have to change the color again if you are working with one single color you don't have to do that to cut the yard and now we will join the second color or if you are working only with two color you will join the same color that I use for the first row and this will be all row with bricks so we will join the yarn chain three turn your work we will chain one more because we have to skip the second single crochet and then in the chain three space we will do three double crochet so three double crochet chain one skip one the pattern is the same as the first row basically this brick stitch has a two rows repeat one row is with these groups of double crochet that can be three four five as many as you wish now because we are working on York we will have to increase the number of double crochet at each block each brick has constantly to just get to the desired width of the yoke at the end of the row of the repeating making three double crochet chain one skip one will finish the row with chain one skip one and one double crochet in the last stitch and now we will change the color again we just did two rounds with two rows with bricks of three double crochet and now it's time to increase in size as we will do the increases at every two rounds of bricks and four in total so basically I did here two rounds with three double crochet on the bricks rose and now I have to make two rounds with four double crochet and then two rounds with five 206 until we will finish the yoke we will start the row as normal with two single crochet in the first two stitches and then we will chain four instead of three because we have to increase with one stitch to prepare the row for in the base for the next row which will be with bricks and to be able to make four double crochet there so this one Row 4 is the same as Row 2 only that instead of three we are doing 4 chain stitches so chain four one single crochet in the chain one space to the end of the row now we just finish the row with chain 4 skip the brake and two single crochet in the chain last chain one space and one the last one in the third stage of the turning chain and now we will change again the color and we will start the break rows which will be this time the same as the third only that we will do four double crochet instead of three for size s we will do two rows with each number of stitches and for size medium and large we will do for example we did here at first two with three then we will do one with four then again two with five and one with six and so on until we will finish the yolk so these are the two rounds that we in the two rows that we will have to repeat one in chains and one in bricks and like I said for sizes that every two rows we are increasing with one stitch and for size medium and large we will increase one at two rows one after one rows so basically will be the rows with uneven number will be two and the rows with even number will be just one okay I'm speaking only about the bricks row but of course before each bricks row you will have one chain row so before start to me starting to make bricks row with one stitch and plus you'll have to make the previous row in chains also with one stitch one chain stitch and Plus after finishing the yoke we will work in total for 23 state 23 rows counting the rows with bricks and with sweet chain as well only on size medium and large you'll have to do to repeat the last two runs so after you're getting to have a breaks of nine you'll have to repeat on rows 22 and 23 to repeat row 21 20 and 21 okay so without increasing after that we will split and mark the section of the sweater we have four breaks for front sides six for sleeves and 17 for back this is for size as you'll see all the details and written instructions for the other sizes on my blog mark the section using for stitch markers and then we will start to make the body of the sweater and first we will start with a separating row the last row of the yoke has to be with bricks because the separating row is easier to be with which changed because we will do an extra chain at the armpit okay so this is a picture with marking the for section and I have to tell you that I escaped the video with separating row I don't know what happened but I will explain it immediately how you can do it so after marking the section you will have to start the row as usual and the first stitch marker you will do one single crochet then chain eight or nine depending on which what size you are making keep the stitches for the sleeve and then one single crochet in the second stitch marker then continue in the stitch pattern until you will get the third stitch marker where you will proceed the same so basically we will separate the sleeve by making one more brick at the armpit and to do that you will have to make chain before because the separating row is with chains sorry for not having the video section with this part I don't know what happened how hopefully you don't give me too many on likes for that these things can happen I cannot make the remainder video because the cardigan is all already done but if you don't understand something please let a comment below I will try to make it as clear as possible plus you'll have the written instruction on my blog and hopefully that will help you now we are starting this live and we are joining the yarn on the armpit in the right corner chain 1 make 1 single crochet here then chain 8 or 9 if you're working medium or large and then we will do 1 single crochet in the next corner after skipping the 8 double crochet basic is the same that you'll have to do on the separating row after making the separating row on the length of the cardigan you can work as many rows as you wish until you get into the desired length for the three sizes I calculated 23 rows on a tell for every size so 23 in total if you want to make it shorter or longer you can add more rows we will finish the row here for the first row of the sleeve with chain 8 or 9 if you are working medium or large and then we will join with a slip stitch in the first single crochet that we did okay now we will join the second the next color the color scheme for that I used you can find it on my blog as well but you can use as I said as many colors as you want or you wish it's not mandatory to use as many as I want I know that it looks awesome but if you find it hard to work with so many colors because you will have a lot of ends to wave in then you can work with less colors or with the single one if you wish okay I joined the second color here and you'll have to start this row with a slip stitch to the chain space and start the row from here with chain three and then seven more double crochet inside the chain or eight if you are working the bigger size yeah so because we have to start the row from the chain space where we'll do a slip stitch to here okay because the end is the end of the previous row is in the stage before in the single crochet then you will have to make a slip stitch here after making the first break chain one skip the single crochet and in the next chain eight space you would do eight double crochet and continue repeating the pattern to the end of the row and I will show you immediately how to finish this row because it's the same pattern with the two rounds repeat only that this time is working around so we are finishing the row with chain one and slip stitch with the first with the third stage of those ding chain and now because we are working around the contrasting color that I'm music on the chain stitches because it's on the chain rose because it's remained the same I didn't cut the yarn so much so and to wave in so just let it thaw there over there and then just grab it and change the color and now this row because now we are ending the row on the brick but we need to make chain one and one single crochet in the chain one space previous chain one space that we did at the end of the row so this is how this row will start and then continue with the stitch pattern and just repeat the rows two and three until you will get to the desired length of the sleeve I made in total four size s 29 rows but the sleeve is pretty long I wanted to be like that I counted the same number and calculated the same number of rows both for size M and for size L there will be 30 121 for s small and medium and 31 for large or make as many rows as you wish until you will get to the desired length this space here is basically the same space that we will have all over the cardigan but this space here at the armpit you can sue it if you don't like a big hole over there okay so I managed to finish the sleeves I also wave in all the and that I had and start making the ribbed band on the front panel is alternating one front post with one back post double crochet and before making the rib band on the collar and on the bottom of the cardigan you will have to do the sighs edges first and then you light it on the color and bada now before starting to make the reverb and on the sleeve we will work two rows before that because we will have to make the coffee little bit smaller than it is right now if you'll like this bell shape of sleeves you can let it like this but this ball off chip is working when when you don't want to make our ribbed band but if you like it like this let it like it is if don't we will decrease a little bit to make the cuff cuff smaller but the first row we will join the yarn and the first row the first round will be with just one double crochet in each stitch including the chain stitches that we have and a single crochet that we have won the previous row so we will turn this round just one double crochet in each stitch the color scheme fold up raped band I didn't follow any of it I just use the yarn that I had left for the sleeves for example I just use two colors this dark brown and another light blue that I had but use as many colors as you want for dog coughs I just made five rounds in four ribbed for the rib band five rounds alternating front post with a back post double crochet and the same number of rounds I did it on the ribbed band on the collar and on the bottom and only on the front sides I made seven rows instead of five but if you wanted to follow the same pattern it's okay that's why I gave you the number of rows that I did but if not you can do as many as you wish now we will start the second row we will start decreasing and you can decrease like this making two double crochet together but I will show you immediately because I prefer not to make two double crochet together boys to make like you will see right now with one double crochet skip one one double crochet if you don't like the holes that are creating by skipping one stitch in between the double crochets you can make the two double crochet together but because we after this row we will do the rib band with the front post and back post I found it more easier to make the up the stitch around a simple double crochet then around double crochet two double crochet cluster but make it as you wish all you will have to do is to skip with one stage at every so to make it basically the number of stitches to be half of that you had before this row now we are starting to making the Reed as I said with alternating one front post with one pack post the same pattern you will have to follow it for the color and bottom of the cardigan but before that you have to do the front edges front side edges first okay and basically after that this is it after finishing the rib band bands that you have to do the Lagoona cardigan is done sorry one more time for skipping the part with the separating row I'm hoping hoping hoping that it's clear enough really I didn't meant to do that I want to make the videos as perfect as possible and to be easy to follow for everyone but these things can happen if is something unclear please check the link in the description below you will find a written pattern death and also comment here because I will help you and try to give your response as fast as possible hope you enjoy it see you next time and thanks for watching
