Make a Fabric Storage Bin

Make a Fabric Storage Bin

[ MUSIC ] Make a cute bin from less than a
yard of fabric. Cut two rectangles of fabric, 18×24 inches each. Cut two pieces of interfacing
to the same size. You’ll make two sets, one for the outer part of the basket And one for
lining. Attach the interfacing to the fabric. Put the glossy side down. [ MUSIC ]. Iron
and repeat for the second set. Fold the fabric in half and pin the sides to make a pocket.
Sew along the sides with a half inch seam allowance. And sew both pieces. Cut the end.
Open the seam and iron it open. Repeat for all seams on both pieces. Fold down the corner
and mark in four inches. Cut off the tip at this mark. Pin the edges. Do this for both
corners on each pocket. Then sew the openings shut. Snip the corners. Fold one bin right
side out. This will be the outside of the bin. [ MUSIC ] Put the right side out bin
inside the other, and pin together. This way, the seam is on the inside. And you’ll have
a nice finished edge when the bin is complete. Leave a small opening for turning. Sew both
bins together. Turn right side out. [ MUSIC ] And pin the opening shut. [ MUSIC ] Be sure
to tuck under the raw edges. [ MUSIC ] And sew the opening shut. [ MUSIC ] For the handles,
cut the belt to the desired size. Ours are nine inches. Place a scrap of leather behind
the belt to create a clean hole, and punch holes in the belt. Mark where you want to
place the handles on the bin. Use the scrap leather again and punch the holes in the bin.
Attach with the **** posts. With this project, you could make storage that matches your decor.
And with the handle, they’re easy to tote from place to place. [ MUSIC ]
