Ngāi Tai’s talented Krishae Teriaki showcases garment at New Zealand Fashion Week

NZ Fashion Tec student Krishae Teriaki
has had her contemporary fairy-tale garment flaunted on the catwalk
at New Zealand’s Fashion Week over the last three days after winning Resene’s Supreme Award and the Prime Minister’s
scholarship for Asia. Our fashion week reporter
Peata Melbourne caught up with the Ngai Tai
fashionista earlier. Brought to life on the catwalk, Krishae Teriaki’s 2015 version
of Little Red Riding Hood – in blue. With just three weeks
to design the garment, 3rd year fashion students
are given a taste of real life in the fashion world. Garments are put on professional
models before a judging panel. Sponsors Resene had the last say, naming Teriaki’s garment
the grand winner. The reward? Her garment shown at Fashion Week
along with the other finalists. Teriaki is also one of 20 students awarded the Prime Minister’s
Scholarship for Asia where they’ll spend five weeks
in India learning the international
fashion trade and more. The edgy bold beautiful garment has been nothing less
than a rocket launch for Ngai Tai’s blossoming designer
in the world of high fashion, the beginning of her own fairy tale. Peata Melbourne, Te Karere.
