polyester gel coats we carry on Fibre Glast dot com gel coat is a special type of polyester
resin made for high quality surface finish
applications gel coats are intended to be applied in mold and backed up with fiberglass and
polyester resin gel coats are designed to create opaque
cosmetic surfaces to polyester parts and molds they are durable resistant to UV
degradation and water absorption Fibre Glast offers
both traditional and tooling gel coats tooling gel coats are specifically
formulated to be used in the production of molds they’re highly durable so they can
overcome the stresses encountered during the curing and demolding process Fibre Glast carries three traditional gel
coats and two tooling gel coats our number 180 clear gel coat is
a super clear high gloss gel coat that is UV stable meaning it won’t yellow
over time number 682 white gel coat is a glossy
pure white marine grade gel coat offering excellent weathering and blister
resistance 684 neutral gel coat has similar properties to our 682 but is
formulated to offer excellent color consistency and opacity when pigmented we also offer
over 900 color gel coats our color gel coats are custom made to
order perfectly matching any of the 188 RAL and 730 Instint color
selections we offer color books to rent or purchase
so that you can accurately and competently select your color polyester gel coat should be sprayed
in mold prior to a layup for repairs we recommend blending our
Duratec Clear Hi-Gloss Additive with your gel coat this will not only help when spraying
but also allow for an open-air cure without the Duratec additive
polyester gel coats must have air inhibited during the
cure cycle or they can remain tacky other options for air inhibition are
adding our number 71 styrene wax or allowing your gel coat to set for 20 to
25 minutes after application and then spraying a layer of PVA this layer
of PVA would need to be washed off with water and detergent after the gel coat cured we also offer
number 186 black and 188 orange tooling gel coats as
mentioned previously tooling gel coats are used when making
molds our tooling gel coats extend the life of your mold due to their superior
