Sarah Sanderson Sister Costume From Hocus Pocus

Welcome to Pins and Things! Today i’m going to show you how I made this Sarah Sanderson costume from Hocus Pocus So we’re gonna start things out with this skirt. I was like trying my hardest to find something in the store that would resemble it but I couldn’t so I was like Imma make it! I’m gonna start with the purple part of this skirt I basically got 4 yards of this purple material. It’s super soft and like scrunchy it wrinkles really easily which I actually like Because she kind of has grungy look in the movie So I have this 4 yards. I just fold it over the top. I literally just folded it over and sewed it so that I could put elastic through the top if it And then on the bottom, I took my scissors snip snip snip and just did that to the entire end of it to give it that raggedy look On this part right here, I wanted two little poofs to be right on this section That’s what it looks like in the movie And so I literally just pinched the fabric Say this is the bottom, I just pinched it and pulled it up and made a little stitch to the hold that So that is exactly what this is right here And I just pinched it to make it look like how it looks in the movie and then I stitch it, so easy. And then, I sewed that purple section to the top of this orange section And below that is this green, It’s kind of a green almost cream color And that’s just below, to be able to fill in the gaps of this skirt And I did the exact same thing on the bottom of this, I just cut the edge a little bit all along and made sure it wasn’t even and it doesn’t look very clean and precise I want it too look raggedy On the inside, I am not very good stitcher. I’m not a very good sewer but this is what I did to make it look like how I wanted it to So made this stitch together right here and then to add in back paneling of just the green cream color I just sewed it right on to right here and right here. So it still has a little bit of stretch from right there and everything is just folded over And stitched just to make a loop for elastic to go through to hold it up So when I took the poof and I just pinched it and made a little poof up here That actually made it so it almost lines up with this orange and made it come a little closer So when I walk, it’s really kind of dragging on the ground and looking longer And it also is good because usually I wear heels when i’m wearing this costume, so that it’s a little bit less off of the ground but it just looks a little good raggedy So for this corset, I went on to google shopping and I just looked up purple corset. That’s all I did Found this one on there and it is just sparkly and cute and exactly what I needed it just needed to be kind of a darker purple And I don’t mind if it has all these sparkles on it, in the movie it doesn’t so I did have to just make it a little bit different but it’s still looks really good And it just has a zipper of the front, just like that and then on the back, it is adjustable and you can kinda make it your size, smaller, bigger, whatever you need This is probably the trickiest part for the whole costume that took a little bit more work but this is cheesecloth. Just the white package of cheesecloth that I think got in the cleaning section at Walmart and then I went into the sewing section and got some dye, purple dye and I actually dyed this by hand just following the directions on the dye package Then once I was done with that, I took the material and I think I used a shirt that I already had those we’re a long sleeved shirt and I made a pattern of that shirt. I made it a little bit bigger for seam allowance and then I just took the sleeves and made two sleeves and they actually kind of go down long on my hand you can kind of see right there. They are like pointed a little bit and they’re super fragile but it’s good because even if they rip and they have it looks raggedy and that’s completely like the movie, it looks good and then this part, I just, to make it a little bit more sturdy and have something you know able to hold up the sleeves I just made two purple straps Very, very simple You can see all the stitching, it’s not pretty but it does the job and I just sewed onto the corset this ties. This are just like shoelace ties Really heavy duty shoelace ties that I just sewed onto the corset and then sewed onto there And that’s the only way that I have them attached to the corset So I cannot attached them if I need to if I wanna used this for some fancy ball or something like that I also have these safety pins right here that I have pin to the top of this undershirt It’s just cause I feel more comfortable with an undershirt under this If you guys don’t care then just I would probably just tighten these straps a little bit right here But that’s how I held it up onto my shirt but I didn’t have to be adjusting these straps all night long and fixing them So this is the cloak that I used and I actually made this by myself. I’m so proud of myself. Check out that video, it is “How to make a cloak” and it looks so pretty I really love these things these are like in the jewelry section I just added it to the cloak This is what goes along with the costume to kind of cover it up before I get on stage and do this I put a spell on you and now your’e mine, mine, mine. I don’t know the real – I miss that part I was one of the back up dancers, people. So check that out Flash mob. It was so perfect. Really really cool. Sanderson sister’s flash mob I picked up these boots to go along with the costume I think I got them at forever young in the mall I also got fish net stockings these are just plain black fish net stockings And because the skirt is kind of revealing it kind of goes up to my leg and you can fix that if you want to, you can just sew it down a little bit more than I did But I just wear shorts underneath and that fixes that problem Fish net stockings, cute boots from forever young And what I did with my hair is I will just curl it. Make it super curly All the way from the top, all the way to the bottom and put a ton of hair spray in it because you know, you’re gonna be partying all night long I also put like bright red lipstick on. One of those nasty moles Also put really dark eye make up on. Just make my eyes look creepy and my face look pretty creepy. It’s gonna be kind of pretty, kind of creepy So that’s what I did. And raise that clip to that There we go! Now i’m all ready and I wanna show you guys how it looks on me So for the make up, I went ahead and put a lot of dark on and I actually just looked up on YouTube Hey, right? Right? I just looked up on YouTube how to make Sanderson sister’s make up for Sarah Sanderson And then here’s the corset and I love it. It fits so well and it’s adjustable in the back so i’m able to get fat or skinny whatever I want And then here’s the skirt, shorts underneath and everything just came together really nicely and if it looks raggedy and nasty, that’s good! And then here’s the cloak With the hood and everything. And the hood is just good just goes on like this Make sure to check out that video, right here And if you wanna see our Sanderson Sister’s flash mob with me and my mom and my sister, then go click on this link right here And also on the description below, there will be a link to the flash mob, the cloak.
