Spring-Summer 2019 Ready-to-Wear Show – The Making of The Collection

We have a series of
12 kaleidoscopes in the collection. To create the kaleidoscopes,
we started with a paper base, almost a sort of blotting paper,
which we folded. We place the ink
very delicately, and when we reopen it,
it creates a design. By combining
elements like this over hazier parts,
we’re able to recreate a kaleidoscope. For example, this part here
is this part over here. There’s an entire tie-dye
theme in the collection. We designed flowers that are
a bit wilted, dried, hanging. And we arranged them
in a square composition and then tie-dyed
over the top. The scarf is folded
in the centre, we make small ties and soak it in the dye. And when we remove
the ties, we get a pattern. Every flower design
has its own tie-dye design so each piece is different but the idea
is really to reincorporate a flower pattern
through the tie-dye process.
