Welcome to the 2016 White Coat Ceremony

Welcome to the 2016 White Coat Ceremony

(dramatic music) – [Announcer] It is my
pleasure to dedicate our 2016 University of Michigan Medical
School White Coat Ceremony formally open. – Students, as you slip
into your white coats today, you’re taking a major step on your journey to become a physician. Most importantly, the
white coat is a reminder that you’re no longer
working toward the goal that you’ve worked on for so long. Rather the goal of all of your training from this day forward
will be to appreciate and obtain the privilege
and the responsibility to care for others when they’re in their greatest times of need. – No matter how you, the
future leaders of healthcare, change medicine and medical care, I hope you will always remember what a privilege it is
to care for patients, to keep it personal, and to never be afraid to care too much. (dramatic music)
