What to wear and what not to wear for your body shape this Fall

What to wear and what not to wear for
your body shape this fall. I completely get that you might walk into
a store and either a feel super overwhelmed and not know what to buy or
even go online not know what to buy for your body shape or you might go and you
might buy somebody else’s clothing so yes it’s you know you’re buying it for
yourself but there for another body shape and so therefore you will never
feel super amazing and confident in it because the fit will be wrong so what
I’d like for you to do if you don’t already know your body shape stop this
video right now go over to the calculator under this video put in your
measurements and figure out your body shape from there and if you don’t have a
measuring tape it’s okay I’ll walk you through more-or-less
proportions so we can figure out what your body shape is and so you can choose
clothing this fall that will make you feel super beautiful and confident
because the fit will be correct all right let’s get started what to wear and
what not to wear for your body shape this fall all right so I’m going to start with the
straight up and down like a rectangle shape because that’s what I am it is I
will admit an easier shape to shop for because pretty much almost anything goes
but what’s important here is that for if you are the rectangle shape you’re
pretty much straight up and down and what we’re what our challenges for the
rectangle shape ladies is we’re trying to create a waistline and create curves
like up on top and up on the bottom because essentially what we want to do
is recreate like an hourglass figure and again we’re not an hourglass so we’re
going to use clothing to create that hourglass so again you just have to
picture bringing volume up on top and at the bottom so how do we do that with
some of the pics from this false collection by the way all of these
apparel pieces are from Banana Republic I didn’t include links only because you
know by the time you watch this video maybe some of these items will be sold
out but you can just go on there and go on to Banana Republic type in the
description let’s say blue wrap blouse and you’ll probably find it right away
again also you don’t even have to go to Banana Republic you can take some of
these silhouettes and just google them or go to your preferred retailer these
are the silhouettes you might not necessarily love the color of what I
have here that’s totally ok again I’m talking about mainly the silhouettes for
your body type so again straight up-and-down rectangle shape the first
item that I have here for you is a wrap top so the wrap top is so figure
flattering this is something that I typically will wear very often because
it has a v-neck right here and so it already kind of starts with that power
glass shape and then it cinches over at the waist creating kind of a faux waist
and I also wanted to bring in a little bit of animal print because again we’re
talking about fall trends and you can’t really tell but this has a v-neck and
what you could do since this is more shapeless a couple of choices you got
eight take it to alterations and have it fitted more to work for your body so
it’s not super loose we don’t want clingy here we just want
tailored okay so you don’t want anything let’s straight up and down it just like
has to kind of go tailored or what you could do is you can like do a half tug
or you can do like a little knot and tuck it in so that’s the way to go
and then we have just some skinny jeans I actually prefer straight live jeans
because I do have a little bit of curves in my hip area again I’m pretty strict
proportional straight up and down but it I’m still curving at the same time so I
love straight up and down jeans and then jumpsuits oh my goodness they’re like
all over like everywhere and ever retailer and they’re super fun to
figure-flattering the only thing that I ask for you to do is get rid of this
fabric belt it doesn’t look very expensive and chic so get rid of that
and then tie a wrap belt okay on a collection wrap belt from our collection
and of course if you have another belt go for it but those are really nice
belts because they’re on trend they’re easy to tie they’re leather so they
don’t come apart and they’re all handmade in Argentina all right so
that’s the straight up and down so um when we go through some of these slides
that pay attention to your shape because it’s also what not to wear okay so let’s
say that you’re a bigger in the middle so like the Oprah Winfrey or like the
Adele shape so similar to what I just showed the wrap style top is super like
universally figure flattering because again it creates that but that first
part of that hourglass with a V and then it also cinches in at the waist and here
there’s a little bit of ruching so it nicely disguises the tummy area so for
you what you want to do is you want to wear tops that are a little bit darker
on the top and then brighter on the bottom because you want the eye to
travel down and balance you out so you again you’re bigger in the middle so you
want to basically kind of like make yourself bigger on the bottom and you
don’t have to do that necessarily with wide pants although you can but you
could also bring in a pop color down at the bottom and it creates a really nice
balance plus I think just a pop color and trousers is super fantastic I mean
this is kind of almost like compared to jeans like you could wear this or
jeans but they’re super comfortable they are it adds like a nice pop something
fresh in your wardrobe so it’s great and then here in miss silhouette this is a
little bit of a shorter hemline typically women that are bigger than
them it’ll have awesome awesome legs and so shortening that hemline and showing
off your legs is really going to create that balance and then also although I
will personally say I’m not a huge lover of print especially as we get older lots
of print is like it’s just not as classy and elegant but I really do like you
know I’ll print at the same time so it’s totally up to you I’m not saying that
it’s bad but it does disguise the tummy area so in here you can bring in a midi
wrap belt you can see a little bit of this bruising here and it has like an
elastic waistband and so you can bring in a little wrap belt hemline it’s going
to be amazing and then you have the v-neck right now right there to open up
an elongate your neck okay so if you’re bigger on the bottom this is the
opposite so this is what you don’t want to wear if you’re an apple or O shape
okay so what you don’t want to wear if you’re an O shape is horizontal prints on
top but when you’re bigger in the middle I’m sorry bigger on the bottom so you’re
like Beyonce Jennifer Lopez Michelle Obama and body type you’re basically
bigger down at the bottom and so you do want to balance and you want to do the
opposite of what bigger in the middle is doing you want to balance your bottom
part and so you do want you you’re okay with bringing in horizontal print up on
top so this animal zebra print lady’s bigger in the middle don’t go with this
one lady’s bigger on the bottom absolutely go with this one it will
balance you out beautifully and then straight leg jeans I think are awesome
you know some ladies will don’t necessarily want to balance their body
they just want to show show off the booty totally find completely up to you
that’s what you want to do and wear you know it’s like skinny jeans totally fine
but if you want to do a more of a balance act than straight leg jeans are
gonna look beautiful these here look like they’re tapered on
the bottom they’re not they’re on the model they looked pretty straight up and
down so you just want to avoid the taper down
because actually accentuates the hip area if that’s where you’re trying to
draw though oh I away from and then this dress also all of these are found on
Banana Republic I thought it was perfect because look at this the way that the
print is is basically played out so you’ve got horizontal stripes here up on
top again we’re trying to bring make this part wider right and then here
we’ve got the vertical going up and down which elongates perfect for the bigger
on the bottom slash pear shape and then here so you might think like okay well
what’s up with this because there’s no horizontal I don’t want horizontal but
if you notice here these stripes are actually pretty strategically placed
from what I can see in the photo is they’re actually you know they’re not
like straight like horizontal across they’re actually kind of going down like
that which is actually really nicely along gating the body and also they’re
wider and so it’s going to bring the emphasis back over to the waist and then
again get rid of that fabric belt and bring in a leather belt it’ll just make
the look more expensive and defined and also will bring the attention back to
your waist your smallest part of your body versus you know bringing in
attention and disguising and you want to disguise the the bottom part if that’s
what you want to do create that balance okay so hourglass is very it’s the most
proportional shape this is what we’re all trying to basically go for here and
so hourglass proportional shapes you ladies are super lucky because you
already have the curves in the right places it’s up just a matter of
continuing to emphasize them so continuing to emphasize with a V now
many ladies that are hourglass do tend to have a bigger bust and so you just
want to be sure that the V like any kind of like rap style necklines aren’t too
low unless that’s you want to reveal but this one I thought was nice because it
doesn’t show too much and I thought it was a really cute top again Banana
Republic this one a lot of ladies that I work with that are hourglass also have a
shorter torso and so a crop top would be really nice with a pencil skirt
plaid pencil skirt oh my gosh this will look just beautiful totally up to you
though as far as like what is your style these are I think really classy
silhouettes and then we have a really classy little dress as well so all of
these are from Banana Republic and then of course emphasizing the waist here
with the wrap felt I chose this gray with a grey the reason I did is because
maybe you don’t want it to pop and especially if you’re short waisted then
you’re just emphasizing your waist your silhouette but not necessarily wanting
to break yourself so go in monochromatic color on color does that in a very nice
way so again the belt in this case is not used as a the core accessory
necessarily it’s just used as a as a waist emphasize err right because it’s
color on color so there you have it all five shapes and as you as you probably
heard me talking about all the other shapes you know you want to kind of
figure out what not to wear so bigger on the bottom and bigger in the middle you
want to make sure you do the opposite okay and then sorry
one last shape is bigger on tops which is different than bigger in the middle
this is more of like the jessica’s Simpson Pamela Anderson Angelina Jolie
shape so maybe you’re a little bit more busty or you have broader shoulders that
are bigger than your waist and your hips and so here again just kind of think
about it so wherever your bigger you want to minimize wherever your smaller
you want to emphasize okay so if that’s what we want to do then we want to go
with more up on top more vertical lines and that’s what this is doing and like
the wrap style top can you see that the wrap top is like totally just you know
universally really pretty for all shapes here this is a boatneck I think it’s so
flattering I absolutely love the shape this is a great for rectangle shape as
well I think it’s a gorgeous shape gorgeous top for the bigger on top and
then you can pair it with like it doesn’t even have to be like this
cheetah print but you know go crazy to have a bottom like something bright red
print because you’re again at trying to create that balance between top and
bottom so think you know something just more solid or
at least vertical or something like more just like downplay the top and then go
loud at the bottom also in terms of dresses
okay jumpsuits are super cute too on you but in terms of dresses like a
fit-and-flare is super flattering because what it’s doing it’s like
fitting here up on top and then it’s it’s flaring down at the bottom and so
it basically makes you look bigger down at the bottom so this shape you want to
basically do the opposite of what this shape is going to do here figure out the
bottom right so that’s why it’s important to go through all of these
shapes look at some of the different outfits and do the opposite in certain
in certain aspects but to kind of conclude you want to like wrap style
tops are pretty universally beautiful for everyone wide legged pants right now
are really on trend and I think they are also universally flattering on everybody
but you also just want to keep in mind the balance so but these ones are wider
and kind of baggy here so your top it needs to be a little bit tighter so if
you’re bigger on in the middle and you wear tighter top you got to kind of
think about that okay so if you have any questions leave a comment for me below
