Will I need to wear a cast after Bunion surgery?

will you need to wear a cast after bunion
surgery a lot depends on what bunion surgery was
performed so there are certain bunionectomies
that involve breaking bones and moving them over and putting screws and/or
plates in that we really don’t want you to walk on and so we will put you into a
cast. a non-weight bearing cast okay uh… and so that cast would uh… remain
on for six weeks after six weeks if the x-rays are
looking good and the bones are healing like we would
like then we might like to start to put some weight on the foot with a what’s
called a cam walker it looks like a giant ski boot the comes all the way up
to your knee. it’s a removable cast so you might start with that and then after a few
weeks get you out of that into regular shoes
